Tibetan Thangka Painting
Explore your individual creative process as you are introduced to the art of traditional Tibetan thangka painting. You will learn about the history, symbolism, and rituals of Tibetan art as you learn to prepare your canvas, and to prepare pigments using traditional techniques including how to grind semi-precious stones into paint. Using the traditional technique of basic proportions you will learn to draw a Buddha. You will then create and paint your own thangka.
Kalsang has developed a series of introductory and intermediate thangka painting courses, which he teaches to groups at art colleges, universities, museums and Buddhist centers in Vancouver and across North America.
Intensive workshops are normally scheduled over for for 25-30 hours over 5 consecutive days. If you would like Kalsang to consider teaching a group in your community, or if your organization would like to present a thangka painting workshop, please write to enquire - info@kalsangdawa.com. |
