Workshops with Kalsang Dawa

Dates: Tues.-Thurs. - July 22, 23, 24 and 29, 30, 31 (6 sessions)

Topic: Introduction to Mandala Painting
Fee: $350 including materials and pigments

Beginner's Workshops in Mandala Painting

This is an excellent opportunity to explore a unique artistic process in a beautiful setting. No experience in drawing or painting is required.

During the six sessions participants will:

  • make a canvas by hand
  • grind semi-precious stones to prepare pigments using traditional techniques
  • learn about colours and elements of a mandala and their symbolic meaning
  • paint a personal mandala using organic materials and pigments
Class size is limted to 10 people, to maximize individual instruction.

Beginner's Workshops in Thangka Painting

This is an excellent opportunity to explore your individual creative process, and to enhance your meditation practice. No experience in drawing or painting is required.

During the five sessions participants will learn:

  • how to make a canvas
  • how to prepare pigments using traditional techniques
  • how to draw a Buddha using the technique of basic proportions
  • how to create and paint a thangka of their own
  • the history of Tibetan art
  • sacred rituals and symbolism in thangka painting
Class size is limted to 10 people, to maximize individual instruction.
No experience is required, all are welcome.
Intensive workshops are normally scheduled over for 5 consecutive days.
